ASSIGNMENTS FOR NEXT WEEK

Hello ppl!!

You are expected to complete assignments 3 and 4 for next week
Also re-read Chela de Rodriguez and carry out corrections on transcriptions. You can find some clues for reading Chela de Rodriguez below.

1) What is the aim of this paper?
2) Why is English rhythm more difficult to teach than other aspects of phonology?
3) Explain the 5 types of exercises Chela de Rodriguez uses in order to teach ER.
4) What assumptions about the teaching of ER do the results of her research suggest?

ASSIGNMENTS FOR APRIL 12 WEEK

Hello!
You should complete Assignments on Stress 1 & 2 (the notes you should read are at the beginning of the "Stress" section) (this message is for students attending the Thursday group)
Also do the "Spanish and English Rhythm" assignment (that´s assignment number 8 and you should read the chapter taken from Finch & Ortiz Lira´s book on contrastive phonology)

HOME ASSIGNMENTS: THURSDAY GROUP

Hello ppl!

These are the assignments for the students from the Thursday group who missed this week´s lesson because of the Easter holiday:

1) "Online Intonation" exercises 1+2 (google "Online Intonation")
2) Complete assignments on stress 1 and 2. You should read the first four pages featuring theory on English stress.
3) Read the first section of "Frank´s first football match" (Say with Rhythm II) and try to reproduce the intonation patterns. We shall record that lesson next week.
4) Transcribe the second dialogue taken from The listening file. Please use phonetic script and mark sentence stress (do NOT mark intonation, i.e. you souldn´t mark kinetic stresses)
